i flew solo!!
Its been about 3-4 months since we bought the car.
I've got this phobia of driving on Singapore roads, cause i got my license in Australia. Singapore drivers are just plain scary! Change lanes and turn into side roads without signaling, dun give way, dun let you cut in, horn you when you drive too slowly, tail gate you, high beam you, *shiver*
well, anyway, occasionally greg will make me drive, like drive home from his or my parents place at night. any other non familiar route, i refuse to drive, lol.
driving is kan cheong can!
so anyway, greg had duty and came back late yesterday, and he asked me to pick him up from admiralty mrt.. it was a straight forward route, shouldn't have many cars on the road, so i thought, ok, give it a try ba. then it RAINED! ok.. drizzled while i was driving, when i got into the car, and started the engine.. the butterflies started fluttering around.. KANCHEONG!
turned down 4 x 2 flights of multistorey car park, went a little up the curb on the first flight down.. lol.. told ya i was kan cheong.. heng nuttin happened to the car..
and i'm out on the roads! *pounding* look left look right look front..
heng not many cars.. drive drive drive.. nothing eventful.. yay! reach admiralty mrt already! then at the zebra crossing, this bicycle appeared suddenly at the crossing junction. heng he braked, cause i was already going to move off.. i stopped the car by the side road, called greg. NO CONNECTION!! i call n call n call n call.. NO CONNECTION!! *panic* NOW HOW!! pedestrians were crossing all around me, in the drizzle, and a L plate car was waiting for his student on the opposite side of the road.. try again.. STILL NO CONNECTION!! the cars were driving by me.. *uh oh*
finally got thru, he said 'no batt, where r u' -.-.. win already.. my first time driving solo and his hp no batt!! heart attack can!
so he came to me, and i drove off. at the 2nd traffic light, the light just turned green, it was my right of way, and the car on the perpendicular road looked like it was going to turn into my road la!! i was hesitant to move, cos i wasn't sure if it was my turn to move off, thought the green light was staring at me in the face, but i keep seeing that guy moving off, and he really turned la!! and greg was like 'HORN HIM LA! WTF!' or something like that, and i sounded my first horn! heh. the guy was talking to his friend, not paying attention to the road.
imagine if it was some other seasoned driver that zoomed off the moment the lights turned green, im pretty sure they would have collided.. so HENG AR! i'm a noob! *whisper* takes me a while to get the car moving.. lol
drove back to the car park uneventfully.
parked. *heave a sigh of relief* 30 June 2009 @ 09:25:14 hrs

Punisher
reviewed by gin well.. quite a captivating show, was expecting it to be a boring dark dark talking kinda show, but turns out, the action sequences were quite exciting..
only boring thing was, all those characters who were killed all died the same way.. head blown off!
the history: about this guy who's family was mass murdered while out in the park having a picnic by the mob, and he's the only survivor of his family. he works in the dark to take out those mobster's families one by one, cause the police have no case against these gangsters.
something untoward happens along the way, and our hero is disheartened and the story unfolds.. 23 June 2009 @ 14:39:26 hrs

mrt..
oh ya, every morning, about 7.40am, there will be an empty train that pulls into southbound woodlands station.
on the platform, there will be a bunch of people who will wait for the empty train while 3-4 trains pass them by. and these bunch of people wait DIRECTLY in front of the mrt train doors like they are invisible can! Like the people alighting and the people who actually want to board the train can just walk through them, the great wall of Woodlands. super inconsiderate.
so today, the station personnel made an announcement that went something like this:
The next train is not the empty train. Please do not block the train doors. The empty train will arrive after the coming train @ 7.43am.
then greg didn't quite catch what the announcement was saying, so i repeated it to him, quite loudly. but the great wall of Woodlands @ the area where we were, stood firm. *roll eyes*
the non-empty train came and left.
announcement:
The next train is the empty train. Passengers please stand behind the yellow line.
We were waiting @ the 2nd door from the head, when the train pulled into the station, before the head of the train passed us, the great wall of Woodlands took a step forward, crossed the yellow line in unison!! before the train came to a full halt!
LIKE SUPER KANCHEONG LA! *rolls eyes* 23 June 2009 @ 08:52:30 hrs

everywhere its H1N1.. newspaper, tv, radio..
TODAY had an article on a singaporean parent with 2 kids living in Melbourne, and how they are dealing with the H1N1.
Apparently, they are non-too-concerned about the pandemic. The current strain of H1N1 is no more potent than their garden-variety seasonal flu. Life is still going on as per normal..
after reading that article.. i really feel like singaporeans are over reacting to the entire H1N1 situation! unless the virus mutants to a more potent one, no cause for concern. Just be socially responsible!!
ok. enuf talk about H1N1. NO MORE MENTION OF H1N1! 23 June 2009 @ 08:44:10 hrs

food..
i like the ee mian @ amoy, stallname: Yong Xiang Homemade noodles. Its on the 2nd floor. Previously, like 3 years ago, they were selling for $2.. with a prawn and egg. but recent years, no more prawn, and going for $2.50. But its still as tasty!
however, yesterday, we went for lunch @ chinatown complex, and i ate the same dish, for $2.50 as well, with prawn and egg! and the soup is yummy! i didn't take note of the stall name, but its in the red section, next to the hokkien mee stall, facing the inner air well, facing the yellow section.
good value for money!! only bad thing is the seating ventilation for chinatown complex is terrible! must sit around the edges then its cooler.
and rizah discovered mango sago as well.. but it has pomelo.. i don't have pomelo in my mango sago.. makes it bitter.. *ugh*
and the prawn noodles @ amoy is YUMMY!! it closed sometime beginning of this year, dunno move go where, but recently they moved back to the exact same stall.. YAY!! prawn noodles is back! Stallname: Chan Kee Famous Prawn Noodle (#01-54)
Damn shiok! the prawns are whole prawns, not those sliced in half and the prawns are plentiful and the meat is sweet and firm and the soup is tasty! And its only $3!

"Your business success will depend on the extent to which programmers essentially live at your office. For this to be a common choice, your office had better be nicer than the average programmer's home. There are two ways to achieve this result. One is to hire programmers who live in extremely shabby apartments. The other is to create a nice office." 11 June 2009 @ 09:29:00 hrs

about them babies..
as roz announced on her blog, catherine is expecting and is due in august! congrat's cat!!
i dunno how we got only the pregnancy topic during lunch.. but giving birth is a scary experience..
the 2 mummys in the office with 3 kids each, were relating their birthing experiences. SCARY LA!
and the after birth process.. omg, u bleed for 2 weeks to 1 full month?! i faint. no wonder confinement must stay @ home for 1 mth.. and chinese tradition, cannot bath for 1 mth.. plus bleeding for so long.. i cannot imagine..
then i read kat's experience, from the time her waterbag burst til her contractions..
then my colleagues' experience with their water bag stories..
and epidurals and pains..
epidurals = less pain during labour, but side effects for the rest of your life
but also got pple say, "don't be a heroine, just take the epidural shot"
sighz.
and the hassles of carrying around a gazillion bags when going out with the baby..
and the amount of diapers you have to change, cos apparently the little brat eats & shits all the time during the first few months..
and the initial amt of $ needed for pre-natal checkups, hospital stay etc etc.
and then you have to think about which pre-nursery to send them.. what activities or classes to send the kids.. what montesorri and ethan and what not.. $1200 a month for 4 hours a day!! like omg.. even with the $$ the govt hands out as baby bonus.. doesn't seem like its going to help very much lor.
how? 04 June 2009 @ 15:17:58 hrs

Aaron Kwok's De Showreel 09
| yea! aaron kwok's concert on saturday.. its super entertaining and it very easy to get lost in the atmosphere! |
 |
| at 8pm, the stadium was this full.. and they gave away this sweet, every seat got 1.. |
 |
 |
| excited! |
 |
they dimmed the lights!! starting already!!
at 8.20, aaron appeared!! *screams*
started off with fast song/dance.. damn shiok!
shan't post any pix, cos didn take that much and all blur anyway..
|
 |
|
the stage for this particular concert was specially flown in from hong kong, it made it into the Guiness Book of records for being the world's loargest revolving stage. and how does it revolve, you might ask, i think it was 450 degrees or something.. it goes vertical and diagonal and spins round as well! it turns around x, y and z axis! like roller coaster! only on super slow-mo.. lol
|
 |
 |
| aaron is in the box, top row, 4th box. wearing white top n black pants.. |
 |
| it even OPENS up!! so aaron comes closer to us, the poorer ones who can't afford to sit so near the stage! |
 |
| then there was the water section of the performance, where they filled the edges of the stage with water and the dancers danced in the water, effectively splashing those rich suckers, that paid $248, with water! (but they provided them with ponchos before hand la)
the dancers & aaron wore all white! on purpose one! tempt us with sex!! peekaboo la!! got 1 part aaron still bend down with his ass towards us can! *screams*
and somewhere earlier, he teased the audience with a semi striptease of his top.. *wolf whistle*
and when he was performing the para para sakura and the dui ni ai ai ai bu wan.. i had to suppress the urge to dance along with him, cos my whole row, no one was dancing!! it was very very high, to me at least, and i think the uncles and aunties sitting beside us were also itching to dance along with him cos they were all on the edge of their seats, well, im not sure abt the aunty sitting beside kellin, but the uncle beside greg was like tapping his feet and the uncle beside this uncle, got 1 part his hand action came out for the classic 'ai ai ai bu wan' move.. and the uncles wave to aaron one leh!! we're like sitting so high up, the balcony there, but they still wave la!!
die hard fans!
the pix below was the end of the intended performance.. |
 |
| but the fans were all refusing to leave, so he did encore for us! TWICE! for the 2nd encore, greg suggested going down closer to the stage.. and im glad we did! we had mass audience singing and he was SO CLOSE! *happy sigh*
everybody wave!! he say he will come back in 2 years! see you then!
i will rem the dance steps for para para & dui ni ai ai ai bu wan!! and rem to bring light sticks and whistles!! |
