Yet more DJs that I haven’t heard of. I’m learning about the who’s who in DJ’ing every month. Exciting isn’t it.

I’m annoyed at how some clients don’t put design as a priority, compared to say advertising and logistics. This one guy called me on Friday morning, told me he needed some flyers, and he has people lined up to distribute the flyers the same night. I went, ok, where are the flyers, and how many do you need printed? He says he needs 2 key artworks DESIGNED, APPROVED, and 10,000pcs PRINTED within 8 hours, with a budget of $550.

Me = Astonished silence.

Just waiting for the ink to dry on offset printing take 5 hours can? How the heck?

Design is not an afterthought, it’s the key factor that will drive people into action. If you spend several thousands in marketing a high end event, but you do the artwork with powerpoint and clipart, dude what’s the point?!

I don’t see how in this time and age, people can still completely miss seeing the entire advertising picture and still think design isn’t a key part in the process. Next time do everyone a favor and plan your projects with enough time for design, iteration, production and delivery.

  1. This isn’t limited to design only. People these days want things done yesterday, every in between process done with a simple press of a button, while utilising the least resources. We are spoilt.

  2. aiya, easy what, photocopy lor, just do up the flyer in word then print out 1 copy using the printer, then send to the photocopier.. DONE!

  3. but hor… let say 220 piece of a4 size paper is maybe $10? 10000 pieces is like $450. toner is like another $200? so not worth taking it XD

  4. i think he miss out 1 zero behind. should be 5500 :D

  5. haha offset printing is surprisingly cheap, each piece comes up to a few cents only. And no it wasn’t 5500, it was 550!
