I’ve been Appled. Quite the steep learning curve coming from PC to Mac. But once you get familiar with it, like, whoa! I like the simplicity of it all. The OS, apps installation, etc. And it just looks so damn good.
Usability aside, the real reason why I’m on apple is because the existing PC I have isn’t 64 bit, so I can’t run the new Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS5. We’re really pushing into motion graphics and LCD posters now, so while we wait for the new hardware to arrive, I’m hooked up to this cute Macbook Pro with 24″ LCD.
I never knew After Effects needed so much ram until we started working in High Definition. You need at least 4gb to get anywhere decent. And much MORE to get fast render times. We managed to hook up a top of the line 8 core MacPro and 2x MacBook Pros to work as a render farm. Even with all that horsepower it takes 45 minutes to render a short 30 second animation in HD.
Like, uwah! Transformers movie how? lol.
