Japan Trip 2010
Day Six
Wed 17 March to Wed 31 March 2010
Day – 01 • 02 • 03 • 04 • 05 • 06 • 07
Rise and shine! Left the hotel early for Tsukiji Fish market.

Chad hasn’t seen the place yet. I did’t mind another round of super fresh sashimi, so why not?

Seagulls, everywhere! Taking morning attendance maybe xD

Wasn’t a lot of people or traffic. Holiday today.

Crossed this bridge from the market to Ginza area.

At this point I was feeling a bit tired of my huge camera. My shoulders were starting to ache after 6 days of carrying it around. The size and weight was a bother in crowded shopping places as well.

But when I do bring myself to shoot something, looking at the results at the end of the day seem to offset the annoyance of carrying it around.

Tsukiji Fish Market has been a sort of tourist spot for years. But the locals absolutely hate annoying tourists disrupting their daily business. I wasn’t too keen on going into the deeper market areas again, since the last time we were there, the locals weren’t very welcoming.

On our way in I found it suspiciously quiet. There was hardly any crowd, and most of the tourist shops were closed.

It turns out the entire market was closed, because today was a holiday. Slip up on our end. xD

But a few of the stores were still open. This one was giving away rice bits wrapped in seaweed for passer-by to try. Not bad.

Not wanting to make it a wasted trip, we decided to have an early lunch at one of the open food stores. We ate at this place, with the big tuna on top.

We knew that the stuff won’t be as fresh, but ah well, we were hungry.

I had plain tuna…

While Chad had mixed seafood. The food, honestly, was not so good. So far the worst meal I ate since coming to Japan. Had a slight tummy ache after. ugh.

The only good thing about the shop was this heating pail they put beside out seats. Much needed warmth from the freezing weather.

Tsukiji and Ginza are within walking distance, so it only makes sense to cover these 2 places on the same day.

Saw this traditional live theater along the way.

Lots of elderly people queuing to enter.

Finally reached Ginza.

Flashy cars yes.

We’re in Ginza. What other type of cars you expect to find?

Leather cows.

So cute!

Apparently they closed the road for people to walk around. Must be because this Monday was a holiday.

I don’t think we’ll get the chance to sit in the middle of the road, in the middle of Ginza another time soon.

We had hours to kill before meeting Wilson later on at Tokyo tower. So we walked around, window shopping and people watching. Takeo Kikuchi and Burberry stuff caught my eye. But they were insanely expensive. Not advisable to impulse buy S$800 worth of clothes. Needed more time to consider.

So we sat at this overpriced cafe by the window, discussing Japaneses fashion and feeling all atas.

The food was only so-so, but the fact that we were in Japan, in Ginza, in an overpriced cafe with atas people all around us somehow made it better.

Chad had his strawberry fix.

This one looked the most appetizing to me on the display, so banana chocolate it was.

You have to make your own tea. The tiny kettle had enough for 2 cups of atas tea.

After our high tea session, I had a new list of clothes and accessories to buy.

I was looking for fashionable items that couldn’t be found in Singapore, but thin enough to still wearable in Singapore weather.

Apart from wearing proper fitting clothes, matching clothing colors and textures was another huge thing to note.

At around 4pm we left Ginza for Tokyo Tower. After walking most of Ginza, I still haven’t bought anything. Chad bought what he claims was the softest bear he’s ever touched.

We were to meet Wilson at the Curry place. I wasn’t sure if he remembered what I was referring to.

Here’s what i was talking about. We were supposed to eat here last time, since this place is special.

Sayumi and Aichan visited this place before!

Yes it was a Hello Morning spot. W00t :D

I would have sat the same spot as Sayumi, but the seats there were already taken. The tiny screens were showing Nemo and Disney cartoons. I have no idea how it was related to curry, or Tokyo Tower.

This strange guy started following us around after we found him at Tokyo Tower. He’s called Wilson.

Interesting table mat. Explains the difference types of curry, and how they hope to be the curry hub of asia.

Yes, we had curry. Mine was pork curry. Compared to Singapore curry, it wasn’t spicy. In Japan however I think this was one of the spicier ones. They gave a us each small cup of yogurt drink to wash down the curry after taste. How pleasant!

After we had our curry fix, we bought 3x tickets to the top.

Chad wanted touristy shots, so, touristy, semi-blur shots were made. lol.

Ah this was a better attempt.

View from the tower.

Strange guy we met downstairs being helpful xD

Odaiba and Rainbow Bridge. We’ll be heading there this Sunday!

Another epic attempt at touristy shots. This time under a cafe signage!

Table tripod.

The wait time to head up to the 250m special observatory was close to 2 hours. No thanks. Went back to ground level to check out their other exhibits.

Resting point along the way…

4D ride. Nothing to do with Tokyo Tower. Just a random thrill ride thing. We sat this 2 years ago. Nearly had a heart attack. lol.

Chad and Wilson wanted to buy snacks before leaving, but decided to come back again at a later date, since the snacks won’t last another week before expiring.

Outside we saw this amazing Hello Kitty tour bus.

Yes, a Hello Kitty tour bus.

With a huge Hello Kitty strapped near the entrance.

If it was a Hello Project tour bus, I would be in the picture. But no, this was a Hello Kitty tour bus omg.

We went back to Yebisu Garden Palace to catch the place at night, but found out they had some concert just ended, and there were construction people everywhere dismantling stuff. :(

By this time I was a bit tired from walking around all day with my heavy camera. Didn’t take many photos. This was the only thing that caught my eye. Maserati yes.

Wilson bought a concert dvd from here I think.

That was about it for today. Mega tired after 6 straight days of traveling. 2 of which where crazy jumping concert days. Rest early for tomorrow!
