Last year on my 2009 birthday, I did a review of life in 2008. So now on my 2010 birthday, I’m going to do a review of life in 2009. The things I’ve accomplished, goals reached, lessons learnt, and significant changes in the past year.
It’s times like this that I don’t regret spending some time everyday to write. Isn’t it nice to have an archive to look back on when you want to know what you’ve done the past year? I can even reference specific months and days… with photos! lol.
I realized didn’t accomplish much the past year. It was more a year of self-discovery. Several experiences had great impact on my life in general. How I approach situations, see people, interact with people. Reading up on astrology and Gemini made me realize even more so, that the decisions I’ve made, the character traits that I have, both good and bad, are exclusive to Gemini’s. Realizing this, I’ve come to embrace the nature of being a Gemini, and not go against it. It’s who I am and I’m not going to try and change it. Well, except for the negative aspects, those I got to change. lol.
Right after my birthday in 2009 I joined my new company. Now 11 months in, I couldn’t be happier with the relative freedom this job offers. Drawbacks still exist, like the seemingly ‘dead-end’ nature of the job, and the lack of interaction with like minded designers. But that’s to be expected of in-house design positions. The new job also exposed me to the nightlife and party scene, which I sort of fell in love with for a while, then started to hate. lol.
It’s also in 2009 that I feel head over heels for someone. It didn’t work out in the end, but I gained so much from that. It completely changed my outlook on life, and gave me new direction to work towards. It was partly the reason why I decided to go ahead with my bike with seat project, and started to ride way more often. I feel more alive now, not as fatigued as before. Exercise is good.
Other major happenings include getting my new camera, Canon’s 5Dmk2, and shooting waaay more than I ever did in 2009. 2 years after getting external lights, I’m still learning to shape and direct them to get the effects I want. I still find joy in trying to reverse engineer lighting scenes in movies and photos from masters in the business. Portraits and food especially. I did my first commercial purpose portrait, one shoot led to another, and eventually I found myself shooting food menus all over the place.
The Morning Musume fandom still lingers, and May’n's concert during AFA only refueled the hunger to go to another Morning Musume concert. The wish was granted recently during with my trip to Japan with Chad and Wilson. Got to see them live not once, but twice! Had a rocking ball of a time jumping and cheering like no tomorrow. Being able to contribute to the local fan community by building up their fansite also gave me a little boost of wota fun, since my OPV failed to get any sort of recognition from the girls :(
Last major happening was going for Lasik. Life without glasses is indeed way more convenient. It’s quite the expensive investment, but I feel one shouldn’t be too stingy when it comes to investing on yourself. I mean, it’s your eyes! Not clothes or fancy possessions.
That about sums it up for the pass 12 months. xD
Happy Birthday !!! :)
