Was having lunch at Simei MRT food court. This random old lady came to our table while we were eating to ask if the food was good. Then she went on to tell us they don’t wash the bowls properly here. Wa lao manners -1. Then she sat herself down and continued to tell us a long story about her son going to Thailand to work, getting cancer, none of her daughter in laws treating her well.
For the record, it’s not OK to interrupt us in the middle of our meal, and tell us the bowls aren’t washed while we’re eating from it. It’s also not OK to sit down uninvited beside us and rant about how sad your life is. Mood -10.
But then again, maybe she just needed someone to listen to her. According to her story she’s all alone, plus her eyes were tearing up after telling her story. My mom asked if she wanted to eat, and the lady replied she didn’t have the heart to eat. After more ranting my mom rephrased and asked of she had enough money to eat. She answered the same thing, but quickly accepted the $10 my mom offered. Said she felt bad and asked if my mom was working.
We left a few minutes later. Too much negativity going on at the table. I mean, the food was bad enough already. My mom was saying, true story or not, we won’t know, but it’s her own karma. :P
