I haven’t had this much crazy fun since the last concert! Steve Aoki was in town for his Asia tour, played at IndoChine Phuket just last Tuesday, and my boss said he was like the best DJ he’s ever seen. So I had high hopes for his set at Zouk.
It was also Ban’s last day at a certain company that shall remain unnamed. So he sort of threw a private party to celebrate the occasion, inviting all the past and current employees that came and went during his time there. Oh man how I miss being around fellow designers and Adobe abusers! For some reason I feel so much at ease. This is the 2nd time I felt this way. I think it’s a sign… xD
Yummy dinner at Marche 313 before heading off to Aoki land. Ban got us a $500 table, and everyone promptly got drunk BEFORE Steve Aoki even came on LOL! Eventually he come on at around 1am and OMFG wooooooo~ He looked like a superstar under the main stage spot light, with his crazy hair and unkempt style. He just oozed with so much attitude and cool behind the decks. Ahhhh!
The difference between him and other DJs I’ve seen, is that he really knows how to get the crowd going. He’ll leave the console at times and start yelling into the mic, spraying bottles of Veuve Clicquot into the mad crowd. The only thing he didn’t do was a stage dive. hahaha~
His set was electric, but not as good as some of the ones I heard him play in the past. It also felt too short! Was a 3 hour set I think. Went home at about 5.45am. Mad night. Certainly memorable. Woot.
