I’m annoyed how the photos done with 1 flash comes out nicer than when i shoot with 2 lights + umbrellas set up.
This was done with window light on camera right, and flash on camera pointed upwards to bounce ceiling. I was shooting at 1/30 shutter, so managed to get more ambient light in. The shadows look softer as well, compared to my old umbrella lit shots. I think i should start testing massive soft light sources mixed in with smaller hard sources for rim lighting. I have major composition issues i feel. Just can’t get the angles and framing right for some of the dishes. Argh.
Oh and I found a new favorite photographer, Kevin Clark. I saw his shots and immediately went “OMG i want my shots to look like that!” There’s only one other photographer i saw drew the same reaction, Mark Robert Halper. Both their styles are quite similar, vibrant colors, high contrast, AWESOME BOKEH ZOMG. The problem with these shots is that i can’t work backwards on how it was done. Looks very ‘naturally processed’, if you get what i mean. I’m so totally attracted to this style of shooting and finishing.
my favourite photographer is aoi miyazaki
