More food shots! I brought my lights but didn’t use them. I was more interested to see how the professionals do it. Just by watching the people that do this for a living, you can most probably learn a few things. But for this particular one I was just puzzled over how they do things.
There was a shoot for a feature planned, so I just tagged along to see how they did food photos. 50mm macro lens, with natural light! They paid extra attention to the details, garnishes especially, and also photo backgrounds. I’m a huge fan of dramatic lighting, so it sort of irks me to see the cocktail shots they did come out so dull. I don’t know, maybe it’s how they want it for their feature.
I can’t stand shooting anything in cloudy lighting, there’s no obvious lighting direction nor texture, nor highlights. Everything looks flat. To me anyways. Maybe they’re going to do a massive photoshop operation afterward, who knows. Just have to wait till the feature is published to see how their shots turn out.
confirm massive photoshop later. that’s my workflow lol
