Huge thanks to Geraldine (Wilson’s cousin!) for coming down to do the shoot. Hands down the best shoot we’ve done so far. Lights, model, props, location, everything! Geraldine was a complete natural at posing (which i think, most cosplayers are), so that made the job so much easier. All we had to do was to get the lights and locations right.

Clarke Quay was our first choice, but we couldn’t find any suitable location. Plus we didn’t want a big group of onlookers following us around. So the shoot was done in and around Chinatown. Equipment wise, this was the first time we got to use lighting outdoors, and in daylight. After much trial and error, we got the exposure dialed in the rest was just a matter of placing the lights.

In 3 hours we went to about 13 different alleys, doorways, stairs, windows and whatever we stumbled across that was suitable for the gothic/rundown theme. Some parts we were climbing up and down, battling mosquitoes while dangling the lights dangerously high and out. But the resulting shots made all the effort worthwhile. :D In terms of equipment, Wilson was doing all the closeup shots with his 100mm lens, while i was on the 24-105mm doing the wide shots.

Just some things to note for future shoots- for the last time, bring a damn reflector. It not only provides the much needed fill light, you can also use it to fan the model xD. Scout and do test shoots ahead of time so we can jump from location to location without searching.

We SO need to do this again!
