It’s that look

It’s that look

I agree that photographers don’t make the best choices when it comes to deciding the best photos for the client. It’s a job best left to the art director. Some shots that I deem suitable, might not fit the whole feel of the campaign, or what the art director has in mind.

I can’t put a finger on it, but it seems the way photographers(or at least me, at this point in time) decide what makes a good photo might not be as focused as say a photo editor or art director. Their decisions are not clouded by ‘photographer thoughts’. They can forgive a bit of blurriness and pick the ones that give viewers the right feeling.

Photographers tend to fuss over every little detail, from the shoot all the way to post, and how a 5% different in the green channel makes a difference. Or maybe it’s just me.

I can’t really explain it, but I think it’s the same as how designers have a kind of emotional attachment to the work they produce. It takes a fresh, objective-focused eye to come in and make the cut.

  1. O nice ~ keke definitely a ‘A’ list =)

  2. I think photographers need to pay attention to details, to make sure they do their best in producing good framing and sharpness of the photo, the beauty in totality of the shot. On the other hand, the art director’s job is to make sure the photo relates to the client’s needs and also to the materials. Hand in hand is how a photo turns out well for a client.

  3. I shall pay attention to holding lights~ :X
