What goes on behind the lens?

It’s not a very complicated setting behind the shoot, as you can see.

Table, black cloth, and 2 lights! Simple! The cloth background I found a $6, 2x3m piece that worked very well. I’m able to flatten it out or gently create folds for texture. I told the lady I wanted something that doesn’t crumple, wasn’t shiny, quite thick and looked smooth. She pointed me to the perfect material and so far it works perfect!!

I feel it’s all the work that goes into the dish that makes the most difference. All the lights in the world won’t save a boring looking dish. We’re still working on that department. It’s like graphic design, but instead of pixels, you have to use sauces, garnishes, carrots, sprinkles and all sorts of things I’ve never seen to make a nice, pleasing composition.

Difficult can? ._.\\\
