Every time I come across videos like this, being able to witness the incredible creative energy and work that goes into making things happen; the beautiful end results, I get annoyed at myself for not doing enough. I realize this feeling of guilt has been building up in me for a while now. My new colleague from overseas just cemented the notion.
The standard of the rest of the world, the creative industry, is just so high. At the pace I’m going now, how to catch up? I’ve already lost 2 years in the army. And now I’m still stuck in debt, wasting time going to movies, playing games, bumming around, just waiting on whatever excuse I can think of to, not, move forward.
Repeating the routines of daily life in our tiny little circles complaining about life, work, politics and whatever nonsense that doesn’t REALLY AFFECT US ANYWAY. Such an epic fail can.
Lack of funds, lack of qualifications, lack of equipment, network, support, time. For someone in the creative line, they’re all excuses. There is NOTHING, except your own self-discipline stopping you from creating. Creating great work is the only way any creative will get anywhere in the world.
We aren’t judged by how qualified we are or where we graduated from. It’s what we’ve done and our portfolio that matters. There’s no corporate ladder to climb, it’s all you, your vision, your ability to bring together like minded creatives to achieve bigger goals, do bigger things. There’s no one man army.
We just got to make. things. happen.
