Japan Day 11
Took the metro all the way to Suidobashi just for this, really scary looping thing.
Thunder Dolphin
Yet another Hello Morning spot, this Thunder Dolphin is a roller coaster at the LaQua amusement park. According to their specs, it is currently the 5th tallest continuous circuit roller coaster in the world at 80 meters. The track is 1066m long and passes through both a hole in a building (see the right side of photo), as well as through the Big-O, a centerless Ferris wheel.
Like Tom said, when you sit this, sure berserk one. lol. Although it lasted only 1:30mins and costs $13 per ride, it was the scariest ride i’ve ever gone on. You can check out our view here. This was exactly where we sat, at the last car.
The initial climb was OMG STEEP and it went up really fast. Looking down on both sides you could see tiny cars below. AHHH. Then came the drop, i went from OMG this is steep! to WHAT IT GETS STEEPER!!? AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH~ hahaha. At 74 degrees it felt like we were standing. Awesomeness.
Ueno Streets and Parks
Went Ueno to hunt for the main Hello! Project Store, found it after some searching. Hidden behind fish stalls ._.|| Went to Ueno Park towards the evening.
The 5pm light covered everything in this warm golden glow. Managed to get some good photos here. Would have looked even more impressive if we were here when the cherry blossoms were blooming. Sat around pigeon watching, people watching. Here in Japan pigeons COME TO YOU. I think they get fed by tourists a lot. One of them even took a pocky stick from my hand can. Super cute.
S$95 Yakiniku Dinner
It was towards the end of the trip and we’re already on a rather tight budget. We’ve already had awesome sushi at the fish market. The only thing left was the Kobe style grilled beef you always see on TV. A bit out of our budget at $45 per person for a plate of beef slices, but after the first bite it was all totally worth it. The best beef ever!
When you place the beef on the grill you could see the fats curl up, like, wa! die. We had some strange sauce and cold tofu to go with it. Everything was just pure goodness. Shoik!
